Lodging rates for family reunions can be pretty reasonable if you start a year out. This is when hotel sales managers are looking at filling up their rooms for the following year and the rates can be fairly reasonable. Top of The Rock Observation Deck
This is a 3 tiered observation deck on the 67th, 69th and the 70th floors of Rockefeller Centre. Your family will enjoy some awesome views of NYC.
