Why Get Married In St. Kitts And Nevis?

Saint Kitts and Nevis have beautiful beaches which is important when you’re planning a beach wedding! They are also unique because they are a mix of white coral sand and brown and black sand. The darker sand is due to the volcanic rocks that you’ll find on the islands. The volcanoes are also responsible for the hot springs on the islands which are a tourist attraction.

Saint Kitts and Nevis are both a great location for nature lovers because of all the wildlife. There is also great snorkeling right off the shore and scuba diving around their natural coral reefs. Additionally, you and your wedding guests will enjoy the island’s history by checking out old sugar plantations and more.

What to Know:

  • The official language of the country is English. If you speak English as well then this will be very convenient throughout the process of planning your Saint Kitts or Nevis beach wedding. You will be able to communicate easily with all of your wedding vendors!
  • All of the beaches in Nevis are public. If you want to plan something as private and intimate as a wedding, try to find a less popular beach that will be quiet during your ceremony. Your coordinator may even be able to block off a spot for you and your guests so there are no distractions while you’re exchanging vows!
  • If you want your wedding to take place in a location with a lot of history and culture, consider the town of Charlestown. You’ll see many touches of the Colonial Era and 18th and 19th century buildings provide an elegant and sophisticated backdrop.
  • The currency of Saint Kitts and Nevis is the East Caribbean dollar. Although you should definitely exchange some money so you have some of the right currency on hand, most businesses and stores accept the U.S. dollar as well.

What is it Known For?

This Caribbean island is only 7 miles long and 5 miles wide. This means during your time in Nevis you and your wedding guests will really be able to see everything it has to offer! You aren’t confined to one area of the island. St. Kitts is 23 miles long and 5 miles wide.

What is the Best Time to Get Married in Saint Kitts and Nevis?

The two-island state has a tropical climate with high temperatures and a nice breeze all year round. However, there are a few factors to consider when choosing your wedding date for your Saint Kitts or Nevis beach wedding.

Since Saint Kitts and Nevis is located in the hurricane belt, it’s best to avoid the months of June through November. Even though this is when the temperatures are the highest, there is too much of a risk of bad storms and it’s also during rainy season.

You won’t want your beach wedding to have to be moved indoors or worry about flight cancellations for you and your guests. Additionally, during the summer and beginning of fall many hotels and resorts close for the season. This could make it difficult to find a place for you and your guests to stay.

The most popular time to visit Nevis is December – April. This is because it’s dry season and people also tend to travel to warmer climates during the winter holidays. Since it’s the most popular time it means it’s going to be more crowded and prices for flights and accommodations will be more experience.

Therefore, the best time to get married on these Caribbean islands would be during May or early June before hurricane season fully hits. May is a great month because you still get the great weather but there are less crowds and you may get some cheaper rates. It’s nice to visit an island in the middle of peak season and slow season to get these types of benefits.
