Although Trinidad and Tobago aren’t within the hurricane belt, afternoon rain showers are common from June to December. This would be a fine time to visit the island for a vacation, but a wedding is really important and you won’t want to stress over the chance of rain ruining your plans!

What are the Marriage Requirements in Trinidad and Tobago?

Before planning your Trinidad and Tobago beach wedding, make sure you’re aware of all the marriage requirements! Fortunately, due to a law change in 1996, it’s possible for non-residents to get married in three days with a Special Marriage License. You used to have to wait seven days after arriving on the islands!

After being in the country for 3 days, you’re able to get married. Make an appointment for right when you arrive to give notice in person at the Civil Registry office. Documents you’ll need are your passports and proof of address.

If either party has been divorced or widowed, then a copy of decree absolute or original death certificate must be presented. If either party is under 18 then parental consent is required.
