Every island has different marriage requirements and this one is no different.
There are multiple steps you need to take to obtain a Turks and Caicos marriage license, however, it’s not a very difficult process as long as you plan ahead!
One of the marriage requirements is that the couple needs to be in Turks and Caicos for 48 hours before submitting an application. However, a recent amendment has allowed cruise ship passengers to get married on the same day of arrival! The application form for the special license can be obtained from the registrar general’s office or from any marriage officer.
Documents the bride and groom will need to get their marriage license are photo ID, birth certificate, Affidavit of single status, copy of legal status (work permit), two declaration forms, and a copy of immigration arrival and departure stamp.
If either party has been divorced or widowed, then a divorce decree or death certificate and copy of marriage certificate is also needed to obtain a Turks and Caicos marriage license. If either the bride or groom is under the age of 21, then parental consent is required. All copies of documents must be notarized and sealed and you need to pay a fee of $250.
Turks and Caicos marriage licenses are issued at the office of the Registrar in Providenciales. To receive a copy of your marriage certificate, you will have to notify your marriage officer and fill out the required forms. A copy of it will then be sent to your home.
The ceremony will be conducted by a local minister, Justice of the Peace or Registrar and will be legal in accordance with British Law. There are so many beautiful places on the islands to have your ceremony and reception! Choose from the beach, gardens, boat and more.
