Horseback Riding
One of the most popular attractions on this island is Esperanza Riding Company. You get to experience Vieques the way the locals do – on a horse! The two hour guided tour will take you through hills, beaches, woods and more. Bring your camera for some great pictures.
Beautiful Beaches
If you’re looking forward to relaxing while in Vieques, visit Secret Beach and Blue Beach. They are both said to be favorites among many travelers. They’re perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling!
A few other popular beaches are Playa Carcas, Navio Beach, Caracas Beach and Sun Bay. At Playa Carcas you’ll find cabanas, which is nice for those in the wedding group that want some shade. Bring your own food and drink!
For Navio Beach, it’s recommended to have a jeep to get there. Once you’re there, you’ll enjoy the secluded area with crystal clear water. It’s a great spot for surfers! Caracas Beach has white sand and turquoise water as well.
Sun Bay is a large beach where you might even see some horses! It’s a great place for snorkeling, as the water is usually calm. A few conveniences are easy parking, snack bar, bathroom and other facilities right on the beach.
Museums
If some of the wedding guests are into history, that appreciate some of the museums in Vieques. Fortin Conde de Mirasol Museum is a great thing to do on the island.
You’ll learn about the history of the fort and also get some great photographs of the views of Vieques. You’ll see a few different exhibits here including an art gallery and a book store.
Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Gallery is another educational activity for wedding guests. It’s located between a ferry dock and a lighthouse and features Caribbean artwork. You’ll see paintings, sculptures, jewelry and more. When there’s an art opening it’s a big social event that many people attend.
Boardwalk
If you’re looking to take a walk, Malecon is a nice boardwalk worth checking out. Locating in the town of Esperanza, it’s about 1/2 mile long and is surrounded by restaurants and shops. Later at night it offers some bar entertainment!
Nature
Vieques National Wildlife Refuge is another popular attraction. While you’re here, you’ll be able to see gorgeous views, beaches and different birds. You can also snorkel and fish. Guests that enjoy nature will really appreciate this atmosphere.
Vieques is also the home of one of the most beautiful Bioluminescent Bays in the world. It’s something you have to see and experience with your own eyes! The water naturally glows a bright blue color at night when it’s touched. Take a kayak ride and a swim in the bay at night for a magical experience.
